The Cab.

The cab was developed in close cooperation with farmers. The development programme was still at a very early stage when customers from various countries were invited to a "test clinic" to assess and compare cabs from three other brands, an AXION 800 and the new AXION 900 (the latter in the form of a mock-up). The valuable results of this exercise were taken into account in the course of the ensuing development of the new cab. Climbing aboard, you realise immediately that it is not just the inclination of the steering wheel – along with the new dashboard – that can be adjusted, but the entire steering column. This makes getting in and out more comfortable. The 4-pillar cab with its convex rear window offers the driver almost unrestricted all-round vision as well as a clear view of the implements.

Hands-on control: the new armrest.

The "command centre" in the comfortably padded armrest is a completely new design, in which the engineers have integrated the new CMOTION multifunction lever and the CEBIS control terminal with the quick selector switch. The logic of the characteristic CLAAS control concept has also undergone further development here. The large passenger seat makes going along for the ride an attractive prospect. A smart idea adopted from the CLAAS combines is the large refrigerated compartment beneath it.

What CLAAS has fitted in the new AXION is much more than just a joystick. With its futuristic looks, it embodies a new kind of control concept which really makes the job of the driver easier. It takes just three fingers to control the AXION 900. No more repositioning of hands on the wheel, no more having to grip the controls tensely – with CMOTION the driver's hand rests in a relaxed and ergonomically sound basic position. Using just the thumb, index and middle fingers it is possible to control all the main functions without the need for any hand or arm movement.
